the perfect transitional piece you need in your closet

Can y'all even believe that today is the first day of SEPTEMBER and that it's almost FALL? It blows my mind how quickly this year has been passing us by! For those of you who are familiar with the up and down temperatures that come along with living in North Carolina, you know our fall seasons are always hit or miss. One year I'll be bundled up in endless layers of clothing, and the next year I'll be walking around in shorts and rompers in October. Our unpredictable weather can cause the same question to pop up every morning: "What on earth am I supposed to wear?"

I won't lie, sometimes I literally stare at my closet for 10 minutes straight because I'm at a loss as to what I should wear to work. Do I have plenty of clothes to choose from? Yes. Do I get super confused when society tells me it's time to wear sweaters, but it's still 90 degrees outside? ABSOLUTELY, YES. Especially when you're in a rush to work and trying to get from point A to point B in a timely manner, it can get stressful figuring out how to dress for the season when the weather isn't matching up.

Have no fear because I have the solution to your problem: SKIRTS. Yes, skirts. Mini skirts have been becoming bigger and bigger every year, and I can't tell you how many adorable suede, denim, and leather skirts I have already seen circulating on social media this year for Fall. This cute new trend can help you make your transition from Summer to Fall that much simpler.

Your next question may be: "Where can I buy quality, affordable skirts?" Don't worry, I'm here to save the day again. The answer is: ivy & leo. They literally have SO many color choices when it comes to finding the right skirt for you. If you're not in the Carolina's and don't have an ivy & leo or Julie's Boutique (their sister store) near you, check out the website. Better hurry quick, because the entire boutique is having a BUY MORE, SAVE MORE SALE and hot-selling items like these skirts will be going quick! Not only does it help there's an awesome sale going on, but it helps that ivy & leo carries quality brands for an extremely reasonable price. You can feel like you're buying a significant amount of items, and still feel the satisfaction of saving money that you may not have saved elsewhere. Dressing cute is always more exciting when you save money, am I right?!

Skirts are an awesome transition piece, because you can either dress them up or dress them down. Depending on the weather, you can pair tops with your skirt to better fit the temperatures or occasion. If it's a little cool outside, you can pair a thin long, sleeveless thermal top with it and tuck the front of it in a little! Or, if it's a little warmer, you can wear a sleeveless or short-sleeve top and either tuck it in the skirt or leave it out if it's cropped to the waistline.

If you're going someplace a little dressier, pair a cute chiffon top with your skirt and throw on some heels or wedges. In my opinion, any top that is chiffon and blousy, always comes across as a classy choice. Throw on some high heels, and you will be good to go!

ivy & leo carries all kinds of skirts in various colors, and a few of my favorites are still in-stock online!

Here are some of my favorites:

The Daphne Tan Suede Skirt: This skirt is literally BEYOND SOFT. It's a really pretty tan and light camel color, and its also by my favorite brand, Honey Punch! Their brand is super high quality and their brand runs very true to size. For those who are a little bit more petite like me (I'm 5'1 for those who haven't seen how ridiculously short I am in real life), this skirt is the perfect length. I wear it right at the height of my waist-line, and it's perfect.Oh, and did I mention it's only $29.99? It doesn't get much better than that!
I threw on my favorite Tory Burch 'Miller' Sandals, and paired it with this Harper LS Olive Green Tie Back Top from ivy & leo - and it's only $32.00!

2. Daphne Black Suede Skirt: Does this skirt look familiar? That's because it's the same one I listed above but in BLACK. I don't know about you, but the majority of my closet for Fall & Winter consists of mainly black. It's a timeless color that will never go out of style. This skirt is great in this color because you can dress it up or dress it down however you'd like.
I wanted a more comfortable look, so I paired it with this SUPER soft "Hadley Open Triangle Camo Top", also from ivy & leo and on the website for only $24.99. It's probably one of the softest shirts I own, and the neckline is so cute! This skirt is really popular so snag it before it goes out of stock.

There are so many more options to choose from! There are micro-suede skirts in super cute colors, leather skirts, denim skirts, AND embroidered skirts. The options are endless! Here are some more examples on how I styled my favorite skirts for this fall.
